Every season begins with a new set of expectations – from fans, coaches, and the players themselves. As the season progresses for the boys’ basketball team, players and their coach share their journey and what it means for the road ahead.
Junior Bryson Petz shares his view on what it has been like as a player for the 25-26 season.
“We have had a lot of setbacks this season with injuries and having to deal with that,” Petz said.
Although it hasn’t been ideal to lose players due to injuries, the basketball team has been able to grow as a team and overcome it. Even with struggles, it has come with great success.
“Our Hays tournament has been my favorite part of this season so far because of our win, and it just was a really fun time,” Petz said.
This tournament has been a highlight for the basketball team, but they are continuing to grow from both their highs and lows for the continuation of the season.
“[We can improve more by] lifting each other up and being more motivated as a team during games and practices,” Petz said.
Sophomore Bryson Fair shares his opinion on what his first varsity basketball season has been like for him so far.
“Everyone seems to be injured right now, and it’s really taking a toll on our performance, and a really healthy squad would be great,” Fair said.
From all sides of the team, they’ve noticed how much a couple of injuries have affected their season, but they are continuing to grow stronger from them. Keeping a positive mindset is key for the team, and they are keeping their goals in mind as they head toward the finish of the season.
“I’m just trying to finish with a decent record and be able to do my thing, and not be held back by any injuries or struggles,” Fair said.
Coach Reichenberger shares what it’s been like coaching the basketball team and how it’s gone for him this season.
“We have to work on our defensive communication and rebounding during games,” Reichenberger said.
Both on and off the court are key to succeeding for this team, and Coach Reichenberger has noticed that. The basketball team can always improve, but the fans and the coach can see how much effort has been put into the season so far.
“I am proud of how our team has matured and grown throughout the season. There are many players earning valuable varsity basketball experience right now that will help the team in the future,” Reichenberger said.
