On Thursday April 4th the varsity tennis team held a home invitational against Winfield and Emporia. Sophomore Ezekiel Thompson is a member of varsity, and claims that the extra preseason hours is the reason he has earned a spot.

“[Being on varsity] feels good. Hard work pays off,” Thompson said.

Thompson competed with doubles partner senior Seth Bontrager.

“We definitely communicate well together. We’ve already been to state once and [we hope to continue] to state this year,” Thompson said. “I definitely wish he wasn’t leaving because we would have a lot more potential.”

Thompson plans on continuing putting in the pre season work for next year.
