Each morning, students and teachers wake up to prepare themselves for the day. Everyone wakes up at different times and has certain routines to look forward to, so they can start their day just how they like it.
While everyone has different ways to get ready, some students and staff wake up extra early so they aren’t rushed, and others wait til last minute to get out of bed.
“I set my alarm at six, but I don’t get out of bed until 6:20 a.m.,” sophomore Kayden Campbell said.
Campbell makes sure she has enough time to get ready, but after she wakes up, she takes time to relax and check texts before the day starts. Many students do that so they can wake themselves up more, have more alertness, and not feel as tired.
“I get up, eat, brush my teeth, and go to school,” freshman Grady Hershberger said.
Hershberger is in no rush to get ready for school. He keeps his routine as simple as can be. He wakes up at 7:30 a.m. and leaves the house shortly after that. He said his routine has stayed the same for years, and he doesn’t plan to change it.
“I wake up every morning at 5:45 a.m., I hit the snooze one time, so 10 minutes, and then I’m up,” said assistant principal Emily Snyder.
Getting up early in the morning can be rough. Snyder makes sure she gets that extra 10 minutes of sleep every day. She showers, does her makeup and hair, and makes sure she leaves the house every day at 6:50 a.m. to prepare for the school day.
“[On the weekends,] I just sleep a lot later,” Hershberger said.
Some students and teachers use the weekend as their break to rest and sleep in to recover from the week before and prepare themselves for the week to come. They have no rush in doing anything and would rather get that extra sleep.
“My least favorite thing [to do in the morning] is probably getting out of bed,” Campbell said.
