Coachella is an annual music festival where many influencers and popular names go and perform. In my opinion, Coachella is dumb. It’s not a music festival anymore. It’s a desert-themed photoshoot with weird music playing in the background. People don’t even go for the artists. They go to be seen, post on social media, and pretend they’re having the time of their lives when they’re sweating through crochet and waiting in line for overpriced lemonade.
It has turned into a parade of try-hard outfits. Every year, it’s the same mess of see-through mesh, glitter slapped across foreheads, cowboy boots that haven’t seen a speck of dirt before, and outfits that look like they were assembled during a power outage. People call it “festival fashion,” but it is not fashion; It’s chaos.
Most of these people aren’t even fans of the music. Half of them couldn’t name a single song from the headliners. People record TikTok videos during sets and check their ring lights more than they watch the actual performance. Most of them are only content creators who call themselves “influencers.”
Coachella is mainstream now. It’s crawling with brands and full of people who act like they’re in on some exclusive secret when, in reality, they’re all just copying each other with the same poses, hats, and the same “woke up like this” captions.
Also, nobody enjoys being there. It’s hot, dusty, crowded, and the signal sucks. Everything is also overpriced. When people post, they mention how miserable they are but cover it up with fake smiles. It is weird how people pretend that standing in a field wearing leather in 95-degree heat is “living your best life,” and it’s the same every year.
Music festivals can be amazing and interesting for an online audience, but this just isn’t one of them. Coachella has become a parody of itself, and seeing the same bad outfits and fake influencers every year is not something to look forward to.
