Taylor Swift has maintained one of the most successful careers during her 20 years in the music industry. Most people have most likely heard the name Taylor Swift multiple times in their lives. Whether someone was talking about her poetic music, her bold actions, or maybe people know her as the famous Travis Kelce’s girlfriend. What they might not know is how she has risen and kept the fame that she has.
Swift started her career with the beginning of her country music era in 2005 with her debut single, “Tim McGraw.” Taylor wrote this song when she was only 15 years old, based on her relationship with a senior who would soon leave to go to college. This was the start of Taylor telling her life stories through music.
In her third album, “Speak Now,” Taylor continued to write about her life stories, such as her relationship with John Mayer. Taylor dated John when she was 19 and he was 32. After “Speak Now” was released, it was evident that the song “Dear John” was written about their relationship with lyrics such as “Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with?” Taylor gained a big following as she wrote songs that many could relate to.
Swift’s transition into pop music began with the release of the album “Red.” Many people doubted her and wondered how she thought that this genre change was going to work for her career. Shortly after Taylor gained success with this album, she was involved in an incident with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The extent of this conflict caused Taylor to completely go off the internet for over a year. She then made a comeback with her pop album “Reputation,” which went on to win the Billboard Music Award for Top Selling Album.
The Eras Tour, inspired by all 11 of Swift’s diverse albums, is one of the most famous music tours in history. A tour was planned to honor the “Lover” album, but with the rise of COVID-19, Taylor was unable to tour. Once she was able to tour again, Swift decided to feature all 10 of her albums in one concert, which she named The Eras Tour. This concert is over three and a half hours long and includes 44 to 46 songs.
Many elements to this concert helped it gain popularity, such as the friendship bracelet making and the light-up bands to help everyone feel a part of something so special. The tour has won many awards, including the iHeartRadio Music Award for Tour of the Century, People’s Choice Award for Favorite Concert Tour, and Kids’ Choice Award for Ticket of the Year. It is safe to say that Swift’s idea to feature all of her albums in one concert has proven successful.
As you listen to music day-to-day, I encourage you to think about how hard artists have worked for the career they have and the ability to supply you with minutes of a story that is meaningful to them. Throughout her career, Taylor Swift has proven her success with her influential albums and sold-out stadium tours.
