Newton sent five wrestlers to the state tournament at Hartman Arena on Feb. 25-26.

“They told me to take one match at a time, because if you lose focus it will stay in your head and then you set yourself up for failure pretty much so I just stayed focus on each match I had,” freshman AB Stokes said.

Newton had two wrestlers make it to the finals, Brothers Grant and Nick Treaster. Grant at the 120 pound weight class, looking to be a three-peat state champion lost to his opponent from Goddard Jason Henschel 1-0.
