The second home meet for the boys swim team was held at Newton High School, on Jan.9th. The newton boys placed 6th out of 10 teams, scoring 123 points. With other teams such as Derby, Hutchinson, Maize South, Valley Center and other high school teams.

“I think it’s been going pretty good but I think we have a really good chance to go to state, a lot of our guys are getting faster and stronger and a lot of the new kids are showing a lot of potential, I think with the seniors being close friends i’m already kind of prepared for being the senior, and I’m excited to lead our team if I do get captain,” junior Creed Ekerberg said.

Senior night was also held at this meet for the boys swim team. Although the swim team captain Josh Kennell wasn’t there with them the team keeps working hard and together to make it to state.

“It was extremely relaxed compared to years past, I think maybe last year or two years ago the coach read off the introductions and everything but this year it was done by a few swimmers (Jason Catache-Gomez and Creed Ekerberg) which is great because then, I think especially this year the swimmers like Creed and Jason they know us better than the actual coach does,” senior Zachary Engelken said.

The team next meet is an away at Emporia High School on Thursday, Jan 16
