Senior Erik Jantz hands junior Evelynn Bartley her induction certificate.

On Oct. 9 there were a new group of students inducted into the National Honor Society. A new group of juniors or seniors that meet the requirements are inducted every year. Last spring after asked to join students had to do certain tasks.

“There were certain forms we had to fill out, as paperwork, then we had to have reference letters and give examples of leadership roles and write a short essay, picked out from different prompts,” junior Abigail Chappell Deckert said.

The club has four officers, president, senior Joshua Kennell, vice president, senior Erik Jantz, secretary of service, senior John Jantzen and treasurer, senior Emily Brandt. The positions are filled by students that were in the club the previous year. The officers run the meetings, help set up, plan and make for activities.

“National Honor Society has taught me how to lead a group of people in a meeting. It can be difficult to get people to talk or make certain decisions when your in front of a group, so it’s helpful for that,” Kennell said.
