Varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams suited up on Tuesday October first, 2019. They both competed against Derby and Hutchison, varsity winning the matches overall.

“I think that we played well and we all worked hard, our team works well together and the games are a lot of fun actually even when we aren’t doing well.  Overall I think we have had a great season and some great matches to come,” sophomore Becca Miller said.

Junior varsity lost to both Derby and Hutchinson.

“My [varsity] matches went really well and our team was pretty successful. We all played hard and had some great serves and plays,” freshman Olivia Antonowich said.

Antonowich has played her first volleyball season on Newton’s High school squad as a libero for varsity.

“Sometimes I feel pressured by being the only [senior] one to help lead the team but it’s been a great season for me. I’ve learned a lot from the varsity team and players so it ends up being worth it. I was excited for senior night but also really nervous,” senior Victoria Renner said.

Renner being one of the two seniors participating in volleyball this fall was recognized during senior night before her matches against Derby and Hutchison.
