“The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified,” (John 12:23).
At 12:23 Sept. 10, Utah Valley University marked the moment a luminary, not only of Turning Point USA, but also of the United States of America, left us.
Charlie Kirk was a political activist who challenged young minds. Kirk traveled the world attending countless engaging debates among students to bring transparency to the brainwashing some may have been subjected to.
Kirk was known by many, and the assassination was altering for individuals in various ways. Those who may not have agreed with him still feel the pain and grief of his death, while some praise it. Kirk’s vision in life was to create a future for those who couldn’t. He promoted ideas of peace, freedom, and faith in the daily lives of humanity.
As a high school student, I take one step forward into the “real world” every day. It’s one step closer to being independent and making my own decisions. Charlie Kirk was someone who educated me in a way I had never experienced before. In school, we are taught to sit in a classroom and learn from the teacher. We are taught to rely on the teacher for information and knowledge about the subject. But Kirk allowed students to ask questions and see the perspective of an educated conservative.
Kirk was a firm believer in the Bible and a man of the Lord. He preached in every situation he was brought to and was able to influence individuals, whether they were the ones up to the stand or simply observing from the audience. But the Lord works in ways that we will never understand, and all we can do is go day-to-day, persevering through every challenge that comes our way.
Perhaps the real question isn’t what Charlie Kirk left behind, but what each of us will leave when we are gone.
