Watching the referee, freshman Owen Mills gets ready to tip the ball.

The junior varsity boys basketball team traveled to Goddard High School to face the lions on Tuesday, Jan 8. This was their fourth game on the road.

¨There’s a lot more energy with home games,” freshman Owen Mills said. “We have a really good crowd and they really get us going a lot of the time. With away games, a lot of the times we don’t have that.”

At the end of the half, the Railers were trailing the Lions 31-24.

¨[At half] we were feeling pretty down on ourselves,” freshman Dylan Petz said. “We had to pick up our defense, get back and box out to finish out the game.”

A slow start during the third quarter led to the team’s defeat. The Lions beat the Railers 58-51.

“I think rebounding is something we can definitely improve on,” Mills said. “We did really well having intense defense in the second half, but we still need to have an urgency with ball.”

The boys will travel to Kapaun Mt. Carmel to face the Crusaders on Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.
