The holiday season is back and better than ever. Many people get a sense of cheer when thinking about Christmas.
Seeing loved ones, holiday baking, and gift exchanges are right around the corner. Even though Christmas is one of the most wonderful times of the year, certain aspects of the holiday can be exaggerated.
“[I think the part of Christmas that gets the most overdone is the] decorations and honestly Christmas music. I love Christmas music but not that much,” said senior Marcella Gonzalez.
On the other hand, Christmas has a lasting impact on anyone who celebrates the years of traditions, which look different in every household. All families have their own Christmas traditions.
“[My favorite Christmas tradition is on] Christmas Eve because we go to drive around and look at all the lights,” said sophomore Taije Botterwick.
The Christmas spirit has also been included within the school. This year STUCO put on their annual twelve days of Christmas countdown, which occurs on the last twelve days of school before Christmas break. Every day has a theme students can participate in if they choose to.
“[My favorite themed day so far this year has been] candy cane day because I got a bunch of candy canes,” said sophomore Kalleigh Davis.
The true joy of Christmas varies from person to person. Gift-giving is one thing that warms the heart for many people. Watching someone unwrap their gift with a smile on their face is an indescribable feeling.
“I love Christmas; I don’t think it is overrated,” said Gonzalez. “I personally spend a lot of money, every year, on buying everybody gifts.”
Ultimately, Christmas is a magical season that only occurs once a year. Even though some traditions might get old, Christmas is still a wonderful holiday celebrated worldwide.
“[If I could change one part of Christmas I would change] none of it,” said Davis.
