As the colder seasons arise I look forward to the new flavors that Starbucks has to offer. With the drop of their fall menu, a few drinks piqued my interest. The total cost for four fall drinks all in the twelve-ounce size was $25.61. This high price did not feel worth it to me after trying all four drinks. I enjoy drinking coffee but I have to add some flavor to tolerate the bitter taste so I chose four fall drinks that offered this.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
This classic fall drink is made of pumpkin spice sauce with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, espresso, and steamed milk. The texture was as expected in any drink, smooth and creamy. However, one surprise was that it did not taste very pumpkin-like. I felt very overpowered with the smokey flavor. The drink appeared orange with whipped cream and pumpkin spice powder on top. There was pumpkin syrup that needed to be stirred in to distribute all of the flavors. I rate this drink a two out of ten. It did not live up to the $5.95 before-tax cost.
Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte
This drink is made of blonde espresso, oat milk, and pecan syrup, and topped with crunchy pecans. Three different were combined to create this drink. From bottom to top there was a dark-to-light progression with the foam being at the very top. It was not mixed very well but once I combined the flavors and colors the drink became evenly distributed. The flavor was nutty and not overpowering. The candies added the perfect sweetness to the drink but I could still taste the espresso. I rate this drink an eight out of ten. It did live up to the $5.95 before-tax cost.
Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai
The taste of this drink was just what I expected from a chai mixed with pumpkin flavor. There was a perfect blend of spice that was not overpowering. The orange appearance fit perfectly with the fall aesthetic. The consistency was very creamy and rich. The flavor was very good but after a few drinks it was very filling and I wasn’t sure I would finish the drink all the way. The drink contains 340 calories in a 12-ounce size. I would suggest ordering the smallest size of this drink to get your money’s worth. I rate this drink a six out of ten.
Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
This drink includes apple, cinnamon, and brown sugar flavors to mix with the blonde espresso and oat milk. As I looked at this drink I noticed that it was very unmixed and there was dark flavor sedimentation at the bottom. After mixing the flavors and taking my first drink it was very overpowering with the apple flavor. If you have a sweeter tooth you might enjoy this one more but if you are looking for a coffee with a slight additional taste this drink is not for you. My overall rating for this drink is a five out of ten.
