The first Monday of every May for the past 70 years, the Met Gala has taken place. This year the Met Gala took place on May 6th and the theme was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. The dress code was Garden of Time. It has not come as a surprise to most that celebrities do not always dress according to the dress code, and they like to express themselves by picking outfits that do not match the dress code.
Doja Cat arrived at this year’s Met Gala wearing a white bath towel around her body, along with another white bath towel wrapped around her head and paired it with white high heels.
This outfit was shocking because of how much she lacked putting thought into her outfit and I believe this shows disrespect to the Costume Institute at NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Kardashians never fail to make an appearance at the Met Gala. Every year they always have stunning and unique outfits that they love to show off and people love to look at. But this year, Kim Kardashian showed up to the Met Gala with a questionable outfit. Kim wore a tight silver dress along with a cardigan around her shoulders. Social media users had a lot to say about her outfit mainly because of the grey cardigan around her shoulders that did not match and because of her unusually small waist. Under her silver dress, she wore a corset that sucked her waist in so much she had trouble breathing, needed help walking, and social media users claim that she almost looked as if she was sick and about to pass out because of how tight her outfit was.
This fashion choice Kim made was not as surprising for those who keep up with her because of the dress she wore back in 2022. She arrived at the Met Gala in one of Marilyn Monroes’ dresses that she had worn in 1962 when singing Happy Birthday to John F. Kennedy. Kim was open to the public about wearing her dress and how she managed to lose 16 pounds in three weeks to be able to fit in it for the Met Gala.
As famous as Kim is, she should be using more of her fame to show her fans and the young women who look up to realistic bodies instead of setting unrealistic expectations of what the “ideal” body looks like.
Ariana Grande showed up at the Met Gala this year in a beautiful white dress and with makeup that complimented her dress as well as the dress code. Her dress flattered her nicely and her outfit did not set any unrealistic body expectations. Her look was absolutely stunning and she did not fail to impress her fans.
