In a dark dungeon where junior boys prowl and gather around for press conferences, they discuss who will win the next fight. Over the past few years, boxing matches have been occurring for fun and they take on the night.
Junior Nathan Barron is the leader and reigning champion of the fight nights alongside Junior Lucas Kaufman. Both Barron and Kaufman are on top of the boxing rankings as they tied with their match. They mainly fought to put on a show for everyone, it was the most injury-prone boxing match of all.
“The reason why we fought was because there were no other fights to watch and everybody wanted to watch a fight so me and Nate fought,” Kaufman said. “Before I had a lot of adrenaline, and after I had broken my toe somehow so that hurt a lot.”
Barron or Kaufman usually schedule the fights by texting in their group chat. The group chat they have is filled with at least ten junior boys. Before each match, Barron and Kaufman host a press conference, which is Kaufman’s favorite part.
“You can have them sit there and they try and have beef, but they are gonna fight either way,” Kaufman said. “Each person pretty much just talks about each other before the fight and if they know they’re going to lose, they don’t say as much.”
Around two years ago, junior Jobe Entz participated in a boxing match against junior Ethan Downey. Since they are around the same size they were paired to fight against each other. Before the fight, Entz was very confident.
“I was going to win, Entz said. “I just put the gloves on and fought.”
Entz ended up winning that fight but everyone in the group chat has been requesting to see Entz and Downey fight again. Barron believes Entz won’t fight Downey again because he will lose.
“Ethan wants a rematch and [Jobe] won’t give it to him. Jobe knows Ethan would win,” Barron said.
To cheer on his friends during matches, Barron coaches and yells really loudly for the person he believes is going to win.
“I usually pick a side of who I want to win and then I’ll coach them. The other people will yell really loud if a punch is thrown,” Barron said.
