On December 1, the energy of Queen Bey came to life again through the big screen. Beyonce first announced that she was releasing a movie on the Renaissance World Tour in Kansas City, Mo. which sophomores Nadiya Avendano, Emelia Mosqueda and I all attended. All I could say and think the whole time was how perfect she was. Even though it was almost 2 a.m., the energy was indescribable. The crowd’s energy level somehow rose even higher when she played the trailer for her new movie, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce.” The audience was going wild and we could not wait to see it.
Beyonce drew us into the theater with the elaborate show she puts on at her concerts. From the iconic ‘mute’ challenge to her performing her older songs, we knew we had to buy tickets for her movie as soon as we could. Avendano, Mosqueda and I all got tickets to go to the movie the day it came out at the AMC in Wichita, Kan. When we went to the movie, we all wore the outfits we wore to her concert to make it even more thrilling and special.
When the movie started, it felt unreal and brought back such an unforgettable memory. The energy in the movie theater matched the energy of the concert. One Beyonce fan in the theater knew all of the choreography for the songs and we got to dance with him during the movie. There weren’t very many people in the lower part of the theater, so all of my friends partied, doing the dances and even singing a little bit.
I can’t forget to mention that not only did Beyonce perform 56 shows for the tour and release of this movie, but she also released a new single the same day the movie premiered. Of course, me and my sister listened to it all day before we saw the movie and practically knew all the words that day. Surprisingly, she played it at the end of the movie during the credits, which made the experience even better.
I think that Beyonce made the movie to cherish the memories and energy from her Renaissance World Tour. The movie included all the songs she performed at the concerts and also featured Beyonce talking about the tour process. She mentioned that there were lots of tears, hard work, beautiful moments and how as humans, we have to remind ourselves that we are just humans. One phrase that spoke to me is how we are human and not machines. She made me think about the world we live in and how we should appreciate others just as much as we should appreciate ourselves. I found her words to be beautiful and inspiring.
Overall, I rate her movie a 10/10. I believe that both Beyonce’s music and her new movie have something to offer everyone.
