During the holiday season, stores rush with people Christmas shopping. Out of 265 students who answered a survey, 81.1% of them go Christmas shopping. During the holiday season, there are many discounts and sales, and the stores get crazy busy when the sales are out. Students and teachers shop at stores that include Walmart, the mall, 5 Below and many more.
Sophomore Makayla Peterson enjoys Christmas shopping. She begins Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving to get the gifts in time. When she shops, she goes to stores like Walmart and Target.
“My favorite place to shop is Target because there are a lot of things to choose from,” Peterson said.
When Peterson goes Christmas shopping her way of budgeting is setting a spending limit for each person.
“My way of budgeting is setting a limit of $20 for each person,” Peterson said.
Peterson likes to give and receive presents but enjoys giving presents more. She would rather go Christmas shopping in person instead of online because she doesn’t have to go out. She spends most of her spending money on her mom.
“It is hardest to shop for my sister because she is picky on what she likes,” Peterson said.
Sophomore Gwendylon Hawkins enjoys Christmas shopping. She begins shopping around October and November and goes to places like the mall and shops on Amazon.
“My favorite place to shop for Christmas is the mall because there are a lot of things there,” Hawkins said.
She spends the most money on her friends or boyfriend and finds it hard to shop for her dad.
“It’s hard to Christmas shop for my dad because he has no hobbies and is picky,” Hawkins said.
She would rather give presents than receive presents from her peers.
“Probably [to] give because it’s really exciting to watch them open their gifts,” Hawkins said.
JAG teacher Dede Trumble is in her sixth year teaching here. She starts her shopping early in July.
“I enjoy Christmas shopping because of all of the Christmas decorations and the spirit it puts you in.”
When she goes shopping for Christmas, she shops for family and grandkids. Places she goes Christmas shopping include local stores, Carriage Factory Art Gallery, Coffin Museum, Etsy and Prairy Harvest. But her favorite place to shop is the mall. She spends the most money while shopping for her grandkids.
