Using artificial intelligence is becoming popular at Newton High School. Some students will use AI for cheating on exams, essays and for extra help on school work.
According to Rand, AI is all based on existing data and it can only tell you what it thinks is going to happen but it can’t explain why it actually feels this way. As most people know, Snapchat has recently come out with its own artificial intelligence which is a personal AI pinned at the top of people’s Snapchat. The AI has a Bitmoji where you can change its appearance or name. A senior student has used Snapchat AI to help with school work and exams.
“You can get answers to anything from AI,” they said. “I’ve used AI to cheat on multiple tests and for answers on all my assignments.”
From a different perspective, a sophomore student believes AI is being abused by people. They believe AI isn’t a bad thing but it shouldn’t be used for cheating or anything school-related. When asked if this student thinks AI could possibly take over, they believed it would be used more in later years.
“I think it shouldn’t be used for cheating on assignments, homework or anything like that. I don’t believe it’s a terrible thing, but its power is being abused by other people,” they said. “It will definitely be used more often. Probably in a way where people can cheat on assignments but it has potential to be used in a very good way.”
According to Cointelegraph, AI can be helpful in everyday life. For example, it can be used for personal assistants, customer service, healthcare, vehicles and more. It has developed throughout the years since the 1950s. A junior at NHS said they are worried about AI developing even more to the point where it can’t be controlled anymore.
“I feel a little bit worried about it, I feel like there is a possibility that we might be getting into something that we don’t know a lot about and things could happen that we can’t predict,” they said.
Since AI has developed and become so popular, students at NHS use its intelligence for helpful resources. Image generation is also another popular way to use artificial intelligence. According to AltexSoft, image generators make use of trained software or trained artificial neurological networks that create original images from the start. They can create these images based on typed language or other photos.
“I have used AI to assist in problem-solving and image generation,” the junior student said.
