Kanye West – famous rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and fashion designer – is well known for the controversy he seems to attract. West’s most recent scandal antisemitic comments. According to the Wall Street Journal, West has praised people such as Hitler describing him as a ‘great man.’.

“As a big creator he can influence a lot of people … he can’t be doing that [antisemitic comments],” sophomore Edgar Garcia said.

As a result of what Kanye has said, Adidas ended its partnership with West. According to Bloomberg, Adidas denounced antisemitism and racism and said the company would immediately end its relationship with West. Adidas is no longer paying West or producing Yeezy branded products.

According to Billboard, West’s scandals date all the way back to 2005 when he said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” This was said on international television during a celebrity relief event for Hurricane Katrina.

According to the New York Post, on Nov. 28, 2022, West stormed out of an interview with podcast host Tim Pool after Pool started lightly defending Jews. Many people took to social media to call West out for ‘running from the conversation.’

“I don’t care about anybody’s opinion, bro. I lost. They tried to put me in jail, they blocked the $2 billion I had,” West said during the podcast.

In just one day, West lost $2 billion dollars over his string of antisemitic comments. Not only is West facing heat from social media and his collaborations, but he is also facing troubles with lawsuits against him. According to Insider, West is facing lawsuits over uncredited music samples, unpaid bills and George Floyd’s family planned to file a $250 million dollar lawsuit against West after he made false comments on the podcast Drink Champs.

“Graduation, life of Pablo, all his albums are bangers … I don’t like Kanye as a person but I like him as a music artist,” sophomore CJ Buffalo said. “He deserved to lose the $2 billion, he’s rich anyway,” Sophomore Caden Burnett said.

According to CNN, as of Oct. 25, 2022, West’s net worth is at a mere $400 million, meaning that he is no longer a billionaire like he was in the first half of 2022. West has lost the majority of his money, and things seem to be getting worse for him almost every day.

“Kanye West as a person does not define his music, and I don’t think that people will stop listening to his music just because of what he says.” Sophomore Rileigh Willis said.
