Girls soccer falls to Andover Trojans in home opener

The Railer girls soccer team was looking to continue rolling from a third place finish in the McPherson tournament last week, looking for a win against the Andover Trojans in their home opener at Fischer Field.
The cold temperature was only made worse by strong crosswinds, making offense difficult for both teams throughout the evening.
“I think the biggest thing about the weather is the wind,” senior Mackenzie Parsons said. “It affected our passing and made it hard to figure out what our touch needed to be.”
The Railer defense was strong all night which features three seniors including Parsons, Abby Edson and goalkeeper Megan Million. The sole goal of the game came after Million blocked the original shot. The Trojans managed to put the ball into the back of the net off the rebound in the second half.
While the wind caused troubles for the Railers, they were still executed well.
“I really do believe our passing was there tonight, and if we did a little more communicating we would be better off for next time,” Parsons said.
The Railers will host Valley Center on Thursday, April 5, a change from the original schedule.
