Volleyball:
Three players on the Newton High School volleyball team got recognized for their skills this season in the AVCTL League. Seniors Regan Hirsh, Ani Koontz, and Chavi Krehbiel all got Division 2 honors. Regan Hirsh earned second team, while Chavi and Ani both earned honorable mention.
“Getting this honor feels great because it shows all the hard work put into the season,” said Chavi Krehbiel.
The goals that these players had set for themselves helped them enjoy their season, but also helped them make achievements.
“For me, making sure I was always trying to have fun helped me make connections with the other girls. Similarly, it’s really fun to win, so when pursuing Fun it makes you play better and in a more vivacious way. Maintaining a positive attitude and a drive to win helped me achieve my goals and Honorable Mention,” said Ani Koontz.
Soccer:
Nine players on the Newton High School boys soccer team got recognized for their efforts this year in the AVCTL League. Enrique Mercado, Jobe Entz, Abram Wall, Cole Ebert, and Esnayder Garcia Torres all got first team honors. Alex Toribio-Triana, and Gianni Toribio- Triana got second team honors. Victor Galvan, and Rafa Solorio Rojas got honorable mention. Junior Cole Ebert says that getting this honor feels very rewarding.
“ It feels rewarding to get this honor. I can set good examples for underclassmen and future NHS soccer players. This is also a reward to show how much hard work and dedication I have put in the last 3 seasons of my soccer career. It’s nice to get recognized for the level I’m playing at,” said Cole Ebert.
Ebert had many goals for this season like getting second-team all-league honors, and to win the Regional Championship.
“ Setting a high standard for myself and my team helped push me. Knowing that I had something to accomplish was critical in getting it done.”
