Varsity and jv wrestlers participated in a home meet against Derby on Jan. 23, winning with a final score of 40 to 36.

¨Wrestling season is always really challenging for all of us especially during cutting weight, but we all work really hard and perform well which makes everything worth it,” junior Avery Dutcher said.

Numerous matches and duals help the wrestlers condition and prepare for Regionals and State wrestling tournaments in the upcoming future. Wrestlers will compete at Regionals in Valley Center on  Feb. 21-22, and will compete at State at Hartman Arena Feb 28-29.

” Derby put up a fight but overall I think that we earned the win and all of us wrestled the best we could. For the future, I want to work on my speed and staying consistent with my weight and I think Ill be confident in doing well at Regionals and State,” freshman Nick Treaster said.
