On Dec. 12, the wrestling team held their first home meet. They competed against Salina Central and won 46 to 30.

“My favorite part about wrestling is the team bonding, and the amount that I learn from the hard practices,” freshman Nick Treaster said.

Treaster won his match along with two other varsity freshman wrestlers, freshmen AB Stokes and Rio Gomez.

“I’ve been wrestling for right around 12 years now, its been a long but fun experience and although its hard I an glad to be wrestling,” Treaster said.

The next wrestling meet held by Newton will be the Tournament of Champions, it will be held Jan. 17 through 18.
