Varsity Football competed against Derby High School on September 20, 2019. Newton lost to Derby with a final score of 63-7.

“I think we could’ve done better if we had as many players as Derby,” sophomore Luke Hirsh said.

Newton scored a touchdown during the final quarter of Friday nights game against Derby. This was varsity’s first time playing Derby this season and they had hopeful intentions for the game.

“The student section was pretty small and quite, but it was exciting when we scored a touchdown at the end. Everyone was cheering and excited that we scored,” sophomore Natalia Varpness said.

Varsity will play Maize on Homecoming night this upcoming Friday, September 27 .
