On Jan. 5 at 9:30 a.m. the RaileRobotics team had a robotics kickoff in Lecture Hall. The kickoff was to start off the build season where the team learned the rules and strategy of this year’s game. It was also a time to develop initial concepts on what they wanted their robot to do and how it might accomplish the tasks needed.

“The kickoff is the start of the season where we learn what we need to build and compete for, all the rules, and how we are supposed to build the robot,” sophomore Justice Murray said.

The kickoff included many different space decorations to match this years theme, along with the theme there was also a few tables of food set up in the hallway for parents and team members. The way the team learned about this year’s competition was through a podcast.

“It’s basically just this huge twitch stream and they have a bunch of sets of different events they show, the playing field, and stuff like that,” Murray said.
