The Varsity soccer team runs over to the crowd during pre game. They were celebrating the JV’s 4-0 victory over Hutchison.

In the soccer teams league opener, they lost to Hutchinson 1-0. The opener was on Sept. 25 at Fisher Field. An early Hutch goal left the railers behind since the 30th minute. Keeper, Slevin Abrego had 3 total saves. The railers had a total of 8 shots, Hutchinsons keeper had 7 saves. The railers had a 60-40 advantage during the game.

“Honestly, I think I played very well. But as a team I felt like we weren’t drilling together like we usually do. So it was like an off game for us.” Michael Velasquez said.

The railers felt like they had an off game and were not fully themselves. They were lacking leadership and speed. They played Maize Sept. 27, and got a 3-1 win. In between games they put in a lot of work.

“More communication and working with my team and trying to figure out everything mentally.” Michael Velasquez said.

There next game the railers will be traveling to Campus on Oct. 2. Kickoff for JV is at 5 and Varsity is at 6:30.
