Senior Chase Ebert kicks the ball during the first home soccer game on Sept. 18.

The varsity boys soccer team improved to 2-5 after hosting Andover at Fischer Field on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Scoring all 4 of their goals before the half, the Railers held the Trojans to a shut-out. Goal scores included sophomore Santiago Fernandez, senior Jose Moreno, junior Xander Valdivia and sophomore Michael Velasquez.

“The hype that each and every player on the field gives, especially after goals, feels really good,” Fernandez said.

Two goals before the 10-minute mark kept the Railers in control the entire game. Newton continued to pressure Andover from that point on.

“We had a lot of confidence after the 10-minute mark that went into the rest of the game. Putting in two more goals before the second half kept us strong and we were able to hold them off,” Fernandez said.

The Railers will be competing at Fischer Field against the Hutchinson Salthawks on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
