In order to get a first down, the team huddles together and decides what the next play will be.

The Freshman/Sophomore football team faced the Derby Panthers on September 23 at Fisher Field.

“Going into the game, I definitely knew that if we played well enough that we would win.  It was a winnable game,” sophomore Andrew Barron said.

During halftime, the Railers were trailing the Panthers 40-0.

“Going into half it was hard dealing with the deficit but we just corrected our game and looked at what we could do better during the second half,” sophomore Ethan Sympson said.

During the fourth quarter, sophomore Jake Schmidt scored the Railers’ first and only touchdown that game, making the final score 46-6.

“I wasn’t really happy [when I scored.] We were down points, but I was still happy to help out my team and put points on the scoreboard,” Schmidt said.

The game ended with a lost for the railers 46-6.

“We definitely didn’t communicate the best and just overall  we need to be ready to play as soon as the game starts and not waiting to play,” Barron said.

The team will travel to Maize on September 30 to face the Eagles.

“I think for Maize, we just need to be quicker off the ball and capitalize on the big plays we make,” Sympson said
