The varsity football team played against Derby was on Sept.20. Newton lost to Derby 63-7. Even though Newton lost the cheerleaders and student section were still chanting and had high hopes for the quarters to come.

“Well there weren’t too many people there but when we did score a touchdown, everyone went crazy so I think we have a very positive vibe.” Sophomore Caleb Koontz said.

In the last quarter Newton scored a touchdown against Derby. This is the first time that Newton had played Derby all season.

“My favorite thing about cheering games is we like, it’s like a team thing and like no matter what happens, it’s always fun, and we’re always just like cheering and the spirit doesn’t go down,” Sophomore Katelin Kohen said.

This week on Sept.27, Newton will play Maize at the homecoming game. Be sure to be there wearing your Railer Pride!
