The gymnastics team competed against Emporia in a varsity dual on Sept. 10 in their first home meet of the season in Ravenscroft gym. The team competed in all four events, despite the fact that the majority of their team had an injury.

“It impacts us a lot because a lot of our top performers get injured really easily and trying to maintain a healthy life while everyone learning new skills is really hard,” senior Becca Meyer said. “It definitely impacted our score a little bit, but we plan to come out on top and finish higher next time.”

Meyer placed fourth in both bars and floor and third place in beam.

“[I can] definitely improving my skills dealing with my back injury and try to push myself further than i have been able too,” Meyer said.

The team won against Emporia with a score of 92.25. Junior Toria Thaw placed first in all events and took first all around.

“It was fun, [winning all the events] I mean all the hard work and practice really paid off,” Thaw said.

The team will compete on September 17 in the Lawrence Invitational.
